Abortion

Our Catholic archbishop, Cardinal Roger Mahony, recently paid for space in this newspaper (Oct. 18,) that interested readers might know his church’s stand regarding abortion. His quarter-page “pastoral message” repeated in the public press what had appeared very recently in our local Catholic paper, The Tidings. He asked for two things: daily prayer for greater respect for life; and that Catholic people support their Parish Respect Life Committee.

Strange that some seemingly sane people object to such a reasonable call from a religious leader (letters, Oct. 28)!
