COUNTYWIDE : City Sets Up Class for Alcohol Servers
The city of Irvine’s family services section will offer a special training class from 6 to 10 p.m. tonight to teach beverage servers how to be responsible on the job while remaining hospitable to customers.
The training also is meant to show servers, retailers and owners of businesses that serve alcohol how to avoid problems that might crop up with intoxicated customers, said Marsha Burgess, an Irvine family services official.
The training class is open to all alcohol servers and retailers in the area, Burgess said. It will be taught by Carol Charette, president of the San Diego-based Beverage Group. The fee is $18 and advanced registration can be requested by calling (714) 724-6640.
Helping with the training class is the newly formed Responsible Hospitality Assn., which consists of bartenders, bartender school officials, restaurant owners, city officials and others interested in responsible alcohol sales.
