The Repercussions of Gays’ Coming Out
If you had a dollar for every time I have meant to write to thank you, you could go buy a pound of See’s or maybe even of Godiva chocolates! I really appreciate the subjects you deal with in your always-fresh, appropriately wonderfully witty or sensitively serious way.
The column about the gay Mormon at this moment of such pain and rage for the gay community apropos of Wilson’s veto (Gov. Pete Wilson’s veto of the gay-rights bill) and close to the “Coming Out Day” prompts my finally “getting with it.”
My husband and I are religious (mainline Protestants) and our family totally “traditional” with three equally wonderful grown sons, one of whom is gay. Within the month, we met with a group of gay Mormon young people earnestly seeking for a sense of self-worth and religious perspective in the face of rejection by church and family, the two mainstay supports for any other minority.
Thank you, and keep up your good work.
