Schools Need to Improvise During Fiscally Tough Times

Absurdities will never cease! The Huntington Beach City School District at present has closed four schools in close proximity of a new housing project in Huntington Beach--Holly Seacliff, which will eventually have approximately 5,000 homes--and now deems it necessary to construct a new school.

Have citizens seen an assessment study to warrant a school of any size? School closures, teachers losing their jobs, school districts attempting to tax homeowners, a city in the red, and now this irresponsible misuse of funds. This is ludicrous!

Here’s an innovative idea: Bus the kids to one previously inhabited school at far less expense than construction of a $12-million, 10-acre new school. Is the school district in the business of education or real estate development?
