SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Applicants Sought for Council Seat

Applications for the City Council seat to be vacated Dec. 1 by Councilman Lawrence F. Buchheim are being accepted by the city clerk.

All residents of San Juan Capistrano who are registered voters are eligible to serve on the five-member council. City Clerk Cheryl Johnson has an application form that must be filled out and returned to City Hall by 5 p.m. Nov. 26.

Buchheim, a 13-year council member, announced his resignation this week, effective Dec. 1. On Dec. 3, the council will appoint one of the applicants to serve the remaining year of Buchheim’s term.

Next November, the council seats of Buchheim and Mayor Kenneth E. Friess will be up for election. Friess has already announced that he will not seek reelection.
