Magic Ratings: Meanwhile, Johnson’s 15-minute appearance Friday night on KCOP’s “The Arsenio Hall Show” slam-dunked the competition. Figures released Monday by the A.C. Nielsen Co. gave KCOP a 15 rating during the time Johnson was on, more than the combined ratings of the three 11 p.m. newscasts. With each local ratings point being equivalent to 48,751 households, approximately 731,000 households were tuned in to see Johnson’s first TV interview since his dramatic retirement from basketball the previous day. Across the nation, Hall’s show drew a 9.9 rating in the 25 major markets, the highest in the show’s history.
