MEINERS OAKS : 1,000 Customers Lose Electricity

About 1,000 homes and businesses throughout Meiners Oaks lost their electrical power for more than an hour Saturday. For some, the power was off for more than three hours.

The cause of the power failure, which occurred about 3:30 p.m., was unknown last night and still being investigated by Southern California Edison officials, Edison District Manager Mark Olson. He said he suspected the problem was caused by worn-out equipment.

Power was restored to 200 Edison customers about 4:45 p.m., but 800 customers were still without electricity an hour later. By 6:30 p.m., most power had been restored, but about 10 customers, including the Ojai Ranger Station on Maricopa Highway, were still powerless as Edison trouble-shooters traced the problem, Olson said.
