Testimony began in Otis Nixon’s bid before an arbitrator to reduce his drug suspension from 60 days to time served.
Nixon was suspended Sept. 16 by commissioner Fay Vincent after testing positive for cocaine. Nixon missed the final 21 days of the regular season, the NL playoffs and the World Series. If the suspension is not reduced, he would miss the first 18 days next season.
