NBC Predicts Eroding Audience for Networks: NBC, in filings with the FCC, predicted that the three broadcast networks would collectively attract less than 55% of the available TV audience this year in addition to losing money. The comments came in a 60-page document NBC filed at the FCC to support overturning government regulations that bar the networks from owning cable TV systems or more than 12 TV stations. NBC, ABC and CBS want to diversify into other media businesses to help offset declining network revenues. But the Teledemocracy Project, a public policy group affiliated with Ralph Nader, said there was “no evidence” that cable and satellite competition impaired broadcasters’ market power.
