A Lament
A Republican’s lament: When I was young and ruled by my heart, I believed the ruination of the country was due to the abolition of slavery and the growth of labor unions. Now that I am old and ruled by my head, I know that the country is being ruined by the revival of slavery and the destruction of labor unions.
