He’s (Still) a Rebel

Robert Hilburn’s honest, candid article on Phil Spector recalls fond memories of this sensitive genius at Fairfax High, back before the days of fame and fortune (“Tearing Down the Wall of Silence,” Nov. 10).

In the conformist, status quo Eisenhower era of the “Nifty ‘50s,” Spector was indeed a rebel amid the future doctors, attorneys, dentists, pharmacists and other “super-achievers” who represented the student body at Fairfax.

He was a definite pioneer who knew what he wanted, and I’m delighted to read that he’s returning to give the world more of his great talent! Yes, Phil Spector made adolescence bearable.
