Fire Guts One Business, Damages Another
A fire gutted one Chatsworth business and damaged another Saturday as it swept through a commercial building at Owensmouth Avenue and Nordhoff Street, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The fire in the 9000 block of Owensmouth Avenue began at about 6:50 p.m. and was put out 40 minutes later by an estimated 50 firefighters, department spokesman Jim Wells said.
Poulin Pro Grip at 9041 Owensmouth Avenue was gutted by the flames, while Pro Action Products at 9033 Owensmouth was also heavily damaged, Wells said.
No damage estimate was available, Wells said, and the cause of the blaze was still under investigation.
Three youths who tried to protect a nearby structure with a garden hose were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, Wells said.
