For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week:

* Do not begin pruning until all the leaves have fallen.

* Early spring blooming shrubs and trees can wait to be pruned until they have bloomed.

* Check existing roses and make your wish list for 1992 All American Rose winners.

* Fall is for planting in California. You can plant just about anything from a new lawn to trees, shrubs, annuals, bulbs and perennials.
