Libya Accused in Jet Bombing

I call your attention to the startling contrast between your two editorials on Libya and the planned gay protest against Gov. Pete Wilson.

While your editorial on the gay protest was a somewhat balanced appeal for reason and nonviolence on the part of both the police and the protesters (an unbalanced confrontation, if there ever was one), the other editorial implicitly approved of military retaliation against Kadafi (read, “the people of Libya”).

You can’t have it both ways, condemning aggression at home and supporting it as the response of first choice for international disputes. Violence on the streets is a reflection of the increasing use of violence as a tool of national policy. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
