TWA Buys Pan Am Commuter Service: Pan Am Corp. has sold its New York-to-Miami commuter express service to TWA Airlines Inc. for $28 million, TWA said. The sale follows a shift in Pan Am’s focus toward Latin America and a bid by TWA to tap the lucrative domestic market for business travelers. Under the deal, TWA bought Pan Am Express assets that include $8 million cash, 18 landing and take-off slots at New York’s Kennedy International Airport and 30 aircraft. TWA said the purchase gives it a 50% share of the air commuter market in the Northeast and allows it to expand its use of Kennedy airport.
