OUTLOOK
Starr takes over as varsity coach after coaching Arcadia Christian to a 28-0 record on the junior high level last season. Just how good the Eagles could be this season is probably frightening to league rivals. In Blythe Linsey (6-4) and McFarland (6-5), the Eagles might have the tallest front line in Orange County girls’ basketball. Calvary Chapel has three other returning starters including guard Mahlow and point guard Lewis. But in freshman Younger, who played for Starr at Arcadia Christian, the Eagles might have one of the quickest and fastest point guards in the county. Volleyball star Courtney Owens will lend even more strength to the team when she arrives. In addition to height and speed, Starr says his players have an intense work ethic but are weak on some fundamentals. Starr thought the Eagles, who have no seniors, would reach their potential next season, but after sizing up the talent, he thinks Calvary Chapel will make an impact this year.
