Whittier : Committee Will Be Formed to Study Public Art Projects

The City Council has voted to form a committee to look at how to create more public artworks.

Cities such as Brea, Norwalk, Pasadena and neighboring Santa Fe Springs require developers to pay for public art as a condition for getting their projects approved. This public art usually includes such works as sculptures, fountains, murals and mosaics.

The committee will examine programs in other cities and recommend a comparable plan for Whittier. Committee members will be chosen from the the city’s Cultural Arts Commission and the community at large.
