Recall for Wrong Reason
Allow me to add my voice to those in Thousand Oaks who are saying, “Don’t sign the recall petition.” Councilman Alex Fiore and Mayor Frank Schillo have served us well.
A recall is part of the our government system so that if someone in office steals public money, commits unlawful acts, or does not fulfill his or her oath of office, we the voters do not have to put up with this while the person’s term runs out, but can oust him or her in a special election.
This Jungleland recall is being conducted by four people who don’t agree with the City Council’s decision to do the Civic Arts Plaza project. They have not put forth any facts that show any wrongdoing or irresponsibility on the part of any council member. On the contrary, everything points to the fact that the council members proceeded with all due caution, solicited public input and responded to it frequently, and are going to produce a wonderful town center for Thousand Oaks.
It is easy to be against something. Let’s recognize that it takes leadership to get something accomplished.
