KLM President Denies Takeover: The head of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines said the Dutch flag carrier was not negotiating a takeover by British Airways. KLM’s largest employee union, the FNV transport union, reported earlier this month that the two airlines were negotiating a takeover deal, which the union feared would result in massive job redundancies, and thus layoffs. But KLM President Pieter Bouw said current talks with the British carrier were aimed at “strengthening the position of KLM . . . in the world airline market,” according to his spokesman, Jan Christiaan Hellendoorn.
