David Edwards scrambled to an even-par 72 under overcast skies and windy conditions Saturday, increasing his lead to two strokes after three rounds of the Ben Hogan-Pebble Beach Invitational.

Edwards, who held a one-shot margin over Mike Reid after two rounds of the tournament, hit into bunkers on the 12th, 14th and 15th holes on the Poppy Hills Golf Course en route to his six-under-par 210 total.

“It was a struggle, but I survived,” Edwards said. “My round was not real pretty.”

Keith Clearwater, who shot even-par 72 at Spyglass Hill; Loren Roberts, who shot 70 at Poppy Hills; and Reid, who shot 73 at Spyglass Hill, are tied for second.

Defending champion Juli Inkster, who became the tournament’s first female winner last year, leads the three remaining LPGA entrants with a 218 total.

The top 60 players from the starting pro field of 90 PGA, Senior PGA and LPGA players, plus the top 10 amateur teams, will play the final round today at Pebble Beach.
