TUSTIN : Candidates for City Posts Must File Soon

The filing period for candidates running in the April 14 municipal election begins Thursday and continues through Feb. 6.

At stake are three City Council seats, held by Richard B. Edgar, Earl J. Prescott and Jim Potts, and the city clerk position, held by Mary E. Wynn.

Edgar served a term from 1974-78 and was elected again in 1980. He has served on the council since then. Prescott was appointed to the council in April, 1987, and elected in 1988.

Potts was elected in 1990 to fill the rest of a four-year term left vacant by the resignation of Ronald B. Hoesteroy. Wynn has served in office since 1980.

Although there is no filing fee for the election, candidates must pay a $350 deposit toward the printing of candidate statements.

Council members receive $560 a month for attending council and Redevelopment Agency meetings, and the city clerk receives $227 per month.
