Silicon Systems Reorganizes: Silicon Systems, a Tustin manufacturer of custom semiconductor chips, said Friday that it is consolidating its business units and decentralizing its quality assurance functions. The company said the reorganization is not expected to result in layoffs. Rather than have seven product-oriented units, the company will be divided into two business units. Storage products will be overseen by Rick Goerner, general manager. Communications and industrial products will be overseen by Hing Chu, acting general manager. Each division will assume quality assurance functions, once the purview of a separate department.
