Boeing Issues Layoff Notices to 82: Boeing Co. has issued layoff notices to 82 more workers, including 37 in Southern California, warning them that they could be out of work in two weeks unless the aerospace company can find new positions for them. The notices issued Friday are the latest in several rounds of work force reductions as Boeing continues to trim back its military work. Boeing has lost three defense contracts since President Bush announced a reduction in the nation’s nuclear arsenal last fall. Earlier this month, Boeing laid off 100 workers.
