Critical of the Critic: Film critic Pat Dowell resigned from the Washingtonian magazine after editor Jack Limpert spiked her positive review of “JFK.” Dowell’s unpublished critique gave the film 3 1/2 stars. “The idea that the president, the Pentagon and the CIA are all acting in concert” to assassinate John Kennedy and cover it up “is bizarre, just crackpot, preposterous,” said editor Limpert. Dowell termed the film “a brilliantly crafted indictment of history as an official story” but Limpert said the review suffered from bad writing. Dowell said Limpert suffered from caring too much about how he’s viewed by the Washington Establishment.
