Man Dies After He Finds His Wife Dead

Both deaths were blamed on heart attacks, but it might really have been a broken heart that killed Kelly Thomas moments after his wife died.

Kelly and Hazel Thomas had been together almost all of their 80 years. They started dating in their native Los Angeles when they were 15 and got married two years later. On Jan. 14, they celebrated their 63rd anniversary.

Kelly Thomas found his wife dead on the floor of their Fresno home Friday, and the trauma apparently triggered a heart attack that killed him, said son Jack Thomas.

“We’re in utter shock,” daughter Marian Blum said. “Losing one parent is shock, but this. . . . “

When they died, Kelly and Hazel Thomas Together had three children, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

“They were a couple like you don’t see anymore,” Blum said. “They worked out their problems, and they loved each other.”
