Glendale : Tony Bennett to Appear With Glendale Symphony
Tony Bennett will appear in concert with the Glendale Symphony Orchestra in a program of classical jazz favorites Friday at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Music Center in downtown Los Angeles. The guest conductor will be Allyn Ferguson. Tickets are $10 to $35.
The program will include “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “The King Porter Stomp” and “A Tisket a Tasket.”
Soloists include Tom Ranier playing Artie Shaw’s “Clarinet Concerto” and Bill Watrous performing Pat Williams’ arrangement of “Come Rain or Come Shine” and Tommy Dorsey’s theme song, “Getting Sentimental Over You.”
Bennett will be honored at a reception after the 8 p.m. concert. Tickets to the reception, featuring music director and conductor Lalo Schifrin at the piano, are $100.
