Hunter and Tiger Both Young Lions of Golf
Much has been reported in The Times about 16-year-old golfing star Tiger Woods. However, you should not forget that another Los Angeles youngster won the California State Amateur at Pebble Beach in 1972. His name was Mac Hunter Jr. and he was also 16 years old.
Mac Jr. did not pursue a golfing career, but he won a major championship at 16 and no other golfer can claim this distinction, including Tiger Woods.
