2 Suspects Freed Due to Lack of Evidence
GARDEN GROVE — Two men who were arrested last month on suspicion of strong-arm robbery were released after prosecutors declined to file charges.
Garden Grove police said Robert J. Munoz, 32, of Anaheim and Alfonso P. Torres, 27, of Santa Ana were arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery of an Arco AM-PM Minimart in Garden Grove on Feb. 20. They were released five days later after the district attorney’s office decided there was insufficient evidence that the men intended to commit robbery, police said.
“In the mind of the employee, he thought (robbery) was what they intended to do,” said Detective John Enriquez. “But it was a disturbance that led to a brief fight” among the three.
