East meets West at today’s Arts of Pacific Asia Show at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
Shoppers will discover numerous rare and valuable pre-1950 art and artifacts, including shadow puppets and temple carvings; 11th-Century sculpture from Tibet, Burma, China, Korea and Japan; Chinese ink paintings; Indonesian textiles; jade carvings, and Ming furniture.
Dealers from across the country are scheduled to participate. Floating World Gallery in Chicago, for instance, will present a diverse collection of 18th-, 9th- and 20th- Century Japanese woodblock prints and paintings. Oriental Corners of Los Altos and San Francisco will exhibit antique Japanese Netsuke (miniature carvings). Admission is $6.
