OCEANSIDE : Truck Driver Killed When Rig Jackknifes
A truck driver was ejected from his cab and killed early Friday when his truck jackknifed on rain-slicked Interstate 5 in Oceanside and pinned him against a bridge, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The driver, Gilbert Moraga, 40, was driving a double-trailer for Lucky Stores and was not wearing a seat belt when he was thrown from the cab and landed in between the guard rail and the bridge on the northbound I-5, north of the Hill Street exit, CHP officer Tom Christian said.
Moraga, a resident of Norwalk, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:45 a.m. accident. Traffic was tied up for three hours on both sides of the freeway.
