Boy, 10, Pleads Guilty to Killing Woman
SAN DIEGO — A 10-year-old boy charged in the March 8 shooting death of a mother of three has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, and a judge must now decide how severely to punish him.
The boy, whose name has been withheld because of his age, admitted firing a bullet into a trailer, killing Manuela Garcia de la Rosa, 25, as she was putting her son to bed. Investigators said the boy and two male companions, ages 13 and 14, were shooting a .22-caliber Uzi-type weapon from a roof across from Garcia’s trailer.
A judge could sentence the boy to the California Youth Authority, a foster home or a youth camp, or to a 24-hour residential care facility.
