In other Garden Grove League games:
Garden Grove 7, Bolsa Grande 3--Simpson Fuentes was three for four, scored one run and drove in another for the visiting Argonauts (6-2, 5-1). Paul Gill hit a fourth-inning solo homer for Bolsa Grande (3-9, 1-5).
Pacifica 7, Los Amigos 5--Dave Anderson had three hits in four at-bats including a two-run double in the second inning, to lead Pacifica (9-5, 4-2) over visiting Los Amigos (1-10, 1-5).
Rancho Alamitos 7, Santiago 3--Nathan Freeman drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double in the third inning. Freeman also had a triple and scored a run in the second. Marshall Brown had two hits, including a double and an RBI, and Scott Shade allowed six hits in 5 2/3 innings for Rancho Alamitos (4-5, 2-4). Santiago is 7-6, 3-3.
In the Angelus League:
Santa Margarita 4, Servite 1--Gordon Williams pitched a three-hitter, and Joey Farris and Stan Bruno had homers for the host Eagles (8-3, 4-1).
Mater Dei 7, St. John Bosco 3--Bill Blanton drove in two runs with a single in the fifth to give Mater Dei a 5-3 lead. Cale Carter hit a two-run home run in the sixth for Mater Dei (10-1, 4-1). Rich Silva (4-0) allowed six hits, struck out nine and walked one.
In the Freeway League:
Troy 2, La Habra 1--Jeff Domen’s fifth-inning single drove in James Hartford with what proved to be the winning run for the host Warriors (3-7, 2-3). Rusty Volkert (3-1) pitched a two-hitter in a losing cause for La Habra (5-5, 2-4).
Fullerton 6, Sonora 3--David Chacon hit a grand slam in the second inning for visiting Fullerton (8-3, 6-0).
In the Orange League:
Brea-Olinda 8, Savanna 5--Matt Priess had a two-run double during a four-run ninth and Andy Smith struck out 10 for the visiting Wildcats (9-2, 5-1).
Anaheim 4, Western 3--With the bases loaded in the seventh inning, Corey Dean-Yeager drove in Phillip Covarrubias with the winning run for Anaheim (8-5, 4-2).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Costa Mesa 4, Century 0--Costa Mesa pitcher Matt Harber caught a hard ground ball in the third inning, preventing Century runners on second and third from scoring. In the fifth, Jeff Neibling scored on a wild pitch, giving the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. The Mustangs (3-9, 1-5) added three runs in the sixth for the victory.
In the South Coast League:
Irvine 5, Mission Viejo 3--Ryan Jones hit a first-inning homer with a runner on and Ryan O’Toole pitched a complete game as the host Vaqueros improved to 7-6, 4-2.
