VENTURA : Fair Will Feature Food, Music, Dance
A three-day celebration of traditional food, music and entertainment from nations around the globe begins today at Ventura College.
Musical events are scheduled throughout the annual Culture Faire in the campus’s main quad area and in its cafeteria. Student groups will sell ethnic fare at food booths throughout the celebration.
Highlights of today’s events include a South American musical ensemble, Polynesian dancers and a performance by noted Irish harpist Rebekah Scogin.
Tuesday’s events will focus on Asian and Chicano culture, and will feature a mariachi band, traditional Aztec dancing and a karate demonstration.
Wednesday’s events highlight African and American Indian culture. The day will include a performance by an African dance and musical troupe, a reggae concert and a lecture by a local Chumash Indian.
The Culture Faire is sponsored by Associated Students of Ventura College and is a major fund-raiser for a number of student clubs.
