Boy Hurt in Crash Greatly Improves
An 8-year-old boy listed in critical condition last week after the car in which he was a passenger collided with a bus near the USC campus was reported Sunday to have improved significantly over the weekend.
Gayle Coffey, nursing supervisor at Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, where Richard Marquez was taken, said the boy is suffering from head injuries, but is now listed in good condition. The car’s driver, Jose Mora, 19, of Los Angeles was treated for a minor injury and released, a police spokesman said.
The accident, which occurred late Friday afternoon in rush-hour traffic, left 36 other people injured, most of them slightly.
