TAPE-DELAYED LAW: Local media interest was intense at the first trial in 1990 for Dr. Thomas Gionis, accused of masterminding the Newport Beach attack on his ex-wife, Aissa Wayne, who is John Wayne’s daughter. His retrial this week--forced by a hung jury the first time--will get national exposure. . . . Court TV, the new cable network specializing in real trials, will cover the testimony daily.
