LULAC Clarifies Stand on Voting Proposal

I am writing pertaining to a proposal to allow non-U.S. citizens to vote in Los Angeles school board elections. Your article (March 19) stated that the League of United Latin American Citizens had not taken a position on this pressing issue. This is not correct because LULAC has actively supported and promoted this concept at community meetings and in its newsletters.

In particular, the Northeast Los Angeles Council has been active in educating and organizing around this issue and will continue to do so as this will entail a long-term political effort by all involved.
