A New Bauble for Liz: Elizabeth Taylor, who flew from Los Angeles to London to speak at Monday night’s “Freddie Mercury Tribute: Concert for AIDS Awareness,” was given a $175,000 diamond ring by singer Elton John in appreciation of her efforts to fight the spread of the disease. Taylor is president of the American Foundation for AIDS Research. John presented the ring to her during a party at his Windsor mansion Sunday night, a concert spokesperson said. John, a close friend of Mercury, performed at Monday’s concert tribute.
