Jason Wilcox singled to start the inning, but Jay Lucas followed with an apparent double-play ball to second baseman E.J. Pape, who mishandled it. Bob Farber followed with a grounder to third baseman Darin Brebes, but Brebes threw the ball away at first, allowing Johnson to score and McMillin to take third. Fifer followed with a sacrifice fly to center field.

McMillin was five for five, scored two runs, and drove in another for Cal Lutheran.
