LOS ANGELES : Deadline Extended for Redistricting Proposals
The deadline for submitting proposals on reapportioning the Los Angeles Unified School District has been extended to April 30, City Council President John Ferraro announced Thursday.
Ferraro said the deadline was extended seven days to give more time to community members who complained that the original Thursday cutoff date was too early.
Under a section of the City Charter, the City Council must not only redraw its own district lines but also adjust school district boundaries after every census to reflect population changes. The council must adopt a plan by July 1.
