PREP ROUNDUP : Bostrom Sets Record in 100 Butterfly

Tim Bostrom set an Orange League and school record Thursday, swimming the 100-yard butterfly in 53.09 seconds as Brea-Olinda defeated Magnolia, 112-40.

The previous record was 54.05, set by Scott DeBoar in 1985.

In Sunset League boys’ tennis:

Westminster 14, Santa Ana 4--The visiting Lions (7-8, 4-6), won all nine of their singles sets. Kenny Nguyen did not lose a game during his three sets.

In Empire League golf:

El Dorado 208, Cypress 225--Pat Bogan shot three-over 38 for El Dorado (6-9, 3-5) at Western Hills. Cypress is 0-8 in league.

In Orange League golf:

Western 209, Savanna 245--Tiger Woods shot one-under 35 at Los Coyotes for Western (8-6, 4-2). Savanna is 2-4 in league.

In Sea View League golf:

University 200, Corona del Mar 212--Brett Skinner shot three-over 38 for visiting University (7-1 in league), which clinched the school’s second Sea View League title.

In South Coast League golf:

El Toro 384, Capistrano Valley 443--Joe Garner shot even-par 70 at Marbella to help keep the Chargers (8-0 in league) in first place. Capistrano Valley’s Graham Lynch was the medalist at 68.

Irvine 193, Dana Hills 194--Dan Buchner shot two-under 34 at Rancho San Joaquin for visiting Dana Hills (4-4 in league). Brannon Rees shot even-par 36 for Irvine (12-4, 6-2), which moved into second place.

San Clemente 410, Mission Viejo 484--Eric Hegarty shot one-over 73 for San Clemente (6-8, 4-4) at Pacific Country Club.

In Sunset League golf:

Huntington Beach 188, Ocean View 210--Jeff Farley shot one-under 35 and Trent Fenzl shot 36 for Huntington Beach (10-3, 5-1) at Mile Square Park. In Sunset League golf:

Marina 381, Fountain Valley 410--Brian Rey shot two-under 68 at Meadowlark for the Vikings (13-3, 6-0).

In Pacific Coast League badminton:

Estancia 17, Corona del Mar 2--Linh Doan won all her singles and mixed-doubles matches as host Estancia won its 33rd consecutive match over the past two seasons.
