*** Charlatans U.K., “Between 10th and 11th,” Beggars Banquet/RCA. Manchester party burn-out? Whatever the reason, this band’s second album is the most introspective effort to come from that flashy English scene, closer in tone to Joy Division, New Order and the Smiths than to Happy Mondays. But the rich textures of both words and music make this a seductive, if somber, package. The band headlines the Palace tonight.
