Motorcyclist, 21, Dies in Accident
DANA POINT — A 21-year-old motorcyclist from Laguna Niguel died early Sunday morning after his vehicle veered into parked construction equipment on Coast Highway.
The victim was identified as Billy Joe Temple by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Leonard said Temple was riding southbound in the 34600 block of Coast Highway when the accident occurred about 1:40 a.m. Sunday.
Leonard said Temple’s motorcycle veered into an area of the highway under construction and slammed into a parked steamroller.
Investigators said it was not known why Temple rode into the cordoned-off area where the construction equipment was stored. It “was properly marked with signs and barriers,” said Leonard.
