MOORPARK : College to Mark Its 25th Anniversary
Moorpark College, the youngest of Ventura County’s three community colleges, will celebrate its 25th birthday today by serving a 12-foot birthday cake in the school’s cafeteria.
Ron Halleran, a physical education instructor at the college who helped organize the celebration, said the event will mainly be for students and staff members.
“We want everybody to realize this is the anniversary of the college,” Halleran said. “It’s very simple. We just have a big, giant cake that we’re wheeling out at noon.”
The 12-foot-long rectangular cake took cafeteria cooks several weeks to make because they baked it in pieces, he said. The cake, which will be served with punch, will be cut by the president of the college and the student-body president.
