LA HABRA : Boys Playing With Fire Damage Store
Two boys started a trash fire Tuesday afternoon while playing with a small propane tank behind a convenience store, fire officials said.
The boys, both 10, were trying to burn through an old steel safe behind the Circle C store at 1931 E. La Habra Blvd. shortly after 4:30 p.m. when the small flame from the hand-held propane tank ignited nearby debris and tires, officials said.
Firefighters evacuated the few customers and employees in the store. It took 13 firefighters from La Habra and Brea about 10 minutes to douse the fire, which caused about $200 damage to the rear of the store, said Acting Fire Capt. Lane Weber.
There were no injuries.
