Four men were shot to death, a fifth man was discovered dead and another man was wounded Sunday in five unrelated incidents, none of which were linked to violence stemming from the Rodney King case verdicts, San Diego police said.

A San Diego police officer fatally shot a 30 year-old man shortly before 6 p.m. during a confrontation at the Lomita Club in the 6400 block of Imperial Avenue, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. The unidentified man died from a chest wound, Mercy Hospital and Medical Center spokesman Michael Scahill said.

In another incident, Jorge Guillen-Aguillar, 36, of San Diego was found fatally shot about 12:40 a.m. behind the wheel of his car, which had crashed into a parked vehicle in the 3500 block of 41st Street in City Heights.

No arrests have been made and a motive for the shooting is unknown, police said.

The third fatal shooting took place in a bar in the 3500 block of Main Street in Southeast San Diego as several men struggled for possession of a pistol, police said. The unidentified victim was described as between 25 and 30 years old.

Wounded in the fracas was Jose Gonzales, who was in serious condition at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center with gunshot wounds to his neck and chest, hospital spokesman Scahill said.

A suspect is being sought in connection with the shootings, police said.

A 16-year-old San Diego youth was fatally wounded in the head at about 12:40 a.m. as he sat in a car in the 2700 block of Rhoades Road in the Paradise Hills area, police said. Manuel Gurrola died Sunday evening at UC San Diego Medical Center.

James Watterson, 20, of San Diego was arrested and a shotgun believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered, according to police, who believe the incident gang-related.

Meanwhile the body of another unidentified man, who had apparently been shot to death, was discovered in the hall of a building in the 5000 block of Limerick Avenue in Clairemont, Sgt. Larry Weeden said. Police could not confirm what day the man had died.
