Rescue workers Wednesday found the bodies of four coal miners trapped for more than four days by an explosion at a mine in eastern Canada, raising the death toll from the disaster to 15.

“Four people have been located today . . . and the teams are pressing on to look for the other 11 missing men,” Colin Benner, spokesman for mine owner Curragh Inc. said at an afternoon news conference.

The bodies of 11 other miners were recovered Sunday from the mile-long Westray mine in northern Nova Scotia. The men appeared to have been killed instantly by the Saturday morning blast.
