San Diego Padre catcher Benito Santiago was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a broken little finger on his right hand. Santiago was hurt sliding into second base on a double in the second inning of a 5-1 loss to St. Louis Saturday night. He was removed from the game for a pinch-hitter in the fourth inning.

Cardinal team physician Stan London said Santiago will be sidelined for three to five weeks. The Padres said their doctor would examine Santiago today in San Diego. To replace Santiago the Padres called up Dan Walters from triple-A Las Vegas.
