COURTS: A judge is expected to rule Wednesday on a request by public defenders who want the state attorney general’s office to prosecute drug cases--rather than the Los Angeles County district attorney--at the San Fernando courthouse. The defenders argue that county prosecutors are refusing to negotiate fair sentences for second-time drug offenders.
