Pop Album Chart : Billy Ray Cyrus Proves ‘Em Wrong

Country rocker Billy Ray Cyrus continues to prove his detractors wrong. His album, “Some Gave All,” is No. 1 on the Billboard chart for the third straight week. Those articles and TV appearances have helped boost sales of his album. Wilson Phillips’ “Shadows and Light” stayed at No. 4 in its second chart week, which, for them, is struggling. Based on the phenomenal sales of their last album, this was expected to enter the chart at No. 1 and nest there for at least a few weeks. Lack of a hit single has hurt sales. Mariah Carey’s remake “I’ll Be There” is still the No. 1 pop single.

* The first album by the rap duo Pete Rock & C. L. Smooth, a very commercial blend of pop and Afrocentric elements, premiered at No. 43.
