Separatism in Latino Politics

Rodriguez bemoans the rivalry between the political camps of Gloria Molina and Art Torres. He views it as counterproductive. Like most lawyers Rodriguez suffers from intellectual myopia. He know everything but understands nothing. No other group in our society is expected to react in a lock-step manner, so why expect Latinos to adhere to one set of ideals.?

Political factions are a way of life and denote the belief that there is more than one way to achieve our goals. It is also a sign of maturity and strength. This was quite evident by the outstanding quality of the candidates backed by both groups in the primary. This gave voters a meaningful choice. By doing so, both factions provided a real service not only to Latinos but to voters in general.

Rodriguez may yearn for the “good old days” of patron-style politics but few Latinos mourn its passing.
